My nanna talking to my aunt on speakerphone…

Nan: “And how’s Thomas doing? He must be nearly as tall as you now! How old is he again?” Aunt: pauses “… three.” Nan: “Oh! I thought he was five!” Us: losing our shit with uncontrollable cackling in the background.

I love Christmas!

“What people really value is acquiring crap. Oprah’s show purports to be a lot about spirituality. If it was, then wouldn’t she tell her worshiping flock to ‘sit down and stop losing your shit over material stuff?’ As for me, I don’t really know what spirituality means, but I know if you’re weeping over a sweater then you don’t either.” —Bill Maher: A Christmas Message for Oprah (via kateoplis)

Amen.

lycanthropy...

i’m restless as hell tonight…

and then i found out it was a full moon.

it always happens like this. i get restless first, and then i find out that a full moon is occurring. you could be forgiven for being sceptical of my complaints if it were the other way around. but no, restlessness first, realisation later. i’m not generally superstitious… but i’ve noticed this at least half a dozen times this year…

I just spent a few minutes on a tram near a “father”, stubby in hand, murmuring obscenities and threats at his poor, distressed little boy. I tried to watch for any physical mistreatment as an excuse to intervene, but never quite caught any. Do you intervene anyway? Or is it worse for the poor little kid once you’ve left the scene? This sort of stuff tears my heart out. What do you do? I’ve never been one to stay silent and avoid doing something, but I always weigh up whether I’m really doing more damage if I do. Thoughts?

What do YOU think of WikiLeaks?

I’m really interested to know… for some it’s a divisive issue; for others, they know exactly how they feel about it; and others just couldn’t care less.

What’s your two cents?

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
  • Edmund Burke Irish orator, philosopher, & politician (1729 - 1797)

Thank you to the good men and women that have decided to do something today for the sake of freedom of information, the true values of journalism, and the rights of our citizens. I hope you’re listening Julia.
