Bravo, EU. Australia next?

It’s fast becoming a well-known fact that eating less meat is good for the earth. Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, has said that “in terms of immediacy of action and the feasibility of bringing about reductions in a short period of time, [people eating less meat] clearly is the most attractive” way to fight climate change.

Following that Four Corners episode, there is no way that we can continue to allow live export of our livestock.

In the past couple of weeks I have made a concerted shift to vegetarianism…

…and for the last few months prior to that I have avoided meat the majority of the time, with the odd moment of weakness. But now I can safely say I have been able to create a healthy diet that no longer includes meat.

I urge you to watch tonight’s Four Corners if you are considering, or have ever considered, becoming vegetarian.

We share this planet, and we’ve gone far beyond what we were ever entitled to. It’s time to change.
